is designed to train healthy dancers to attain technical proficiency and artistry while preparing for a strong college career and/or professional life in dance. Additionally, with BCB’s primary fervor for education, the intensive format allows each candidate to perfect his or her physical artistry while focusing on academic excellence. Thus, all students in 10th grade and beyond are eligible to register for 3 credits in Ballet Technique (PART1004-4004) and/or 3 credits of Contemporary/Modern Technique (PART1005-4005)

The La Roche College Dance Department is a ballet-based program offering a Bachelor of Arts Degree in professional performance and pedagogy. The concentration of the dance department is rooted in classical ballet; however the artists are to reach proficiency in multiple genres including: contemporary ballet, modern technique, jazz, Pilate’s technique, and dance composition./

The B.A. degree in dance aligns with the university's liberal arts-based vision of education that encourages breadth of knowledge. Faculty shape class projects and mentor students in production work in a way that promotes collaboration — an essential skill for success in the performing arts and a very valuable skill in any profession. All dance majors have opportunities to assume artistic leadership roles during their academic careers in the department. Advanced students take on solo performance roles, stage management positions and choreograph pieces in student concerts. Select students choreograph their own full-length dance productions.
